Matthew Swinnerton
Matthew began his professional musical life as the guitarist and co-songwriter in British indie band The Rakes, his distinctive guitar style contributing to the bands unique sound. The Rakes released three critically acclaimed and successful albums, working with producers Paul Epworth and Jim Abiss. They toured pretty much non-stop between 2003 and 2009, playing to appreciative audiences worldwide.
Now a well respected writer, Matthew has been collaborating with various artists including co-writing with NME favourites Citizens! He works with bands and solo artists alike and has recently been developing his production skills. In July 2013 Matthew releases an instrumental album for London based independent label Trestle records. Recording under his own name, the tracks are a combination Krautrock, lo-fi indie and minimalist sound collages, with Matthew providing the infectious melodies and hooks he is known for.
Always interested in exploring new musical connections, Matthew has recently teamed up with fellow Faber writer Marc Sylvan. Together they formed the project Buro, setting their sights on writing instrumental music for the moving image.
