Spring 2018 sees the release of The Tallowmere Annual, a brand-new book and soundtrack concept from Keaton Henson.
The Tallowmere Annual is a hardback, limited edition collection of prose, sounds and ink paintings. A mixed-media ode to loss and remembrance, it tells the fragmented, half-remembered story of a town that never existed, and either way seems empty, leaving only outlines of living things, words once spoken, and sounds of distant mourning.
The book marks the first of its kind. The cover holds an MP3 pack embedded with an audio jack for headphones and sound controls. Readers can plug in and listen to a recorded score created by Keaton as an accompaniment to the visual content.
Keaton says of The Tallowmere Annual, "It's a collection of fragments, singing an elegy to the feeling of loss and something dreadful humming towards you. In spite of its physical element, it is a quiet book. Tallowmere is an unsettling place to be, but I have loved spending time there".
The Tallowmere Annual will be released on the 23rd April 2018 and is available to pre-order here:
