Phoria Release New Album: River Oblivion - Out Now!

Critically-acclaimed alternative Brighton outfit Phoria are officially back. Their third studio album River Oblivion, mixes all the electronic intricacies of their accomplished debut Volition, with the orchestral transcendence of their second, Caught A Black RabbitRiver Oblivion is an expansive, supersonic journey through the brilliant mind of writer Trewin Howard’s highs and lows during the pandemic.

On the album, Trewin Howard says,

"‘River Oblivion’ is a true release of internal conflicts and struggles. A rethinking of what making an ‘album’ means to me. I let go of my exhausting obsession with constructing a flawless sonic sculpture and simply got real and dirty and let out what needed to be. It was cathartic and meaningful and it has cleared the creative and personal path for me to return to my obsession. Albeit with a little more swagger and joy."

He continues to explain the story behind River Oblivion:

"‘River Oblivion’ is inspired by the River Lethe from the Greek legends, the River of Oblivion.  If a person drank from its waters they were rendered oblivious eternally.  To forget everything can be both a relief and a tragedy. I wanted to play with these themes in this album. The music takes you through moments of despair/fear and hopefulness, pain and beauty hopefully the overarching sense is one of belief in mankind and the power of beauty to inspire us to compassion and love for each other and the world we live in."

With a sold-out show at Union Chapel ft. The Parallax Orchestra and supported by Jasmine Jethwa,  Phoria have now announced a massive show at KOKO (November 28th) to celebrate 10 years of their eclectic existence.
